WiMAX technologies are invented by many combination of company under WiMAX Forum (www.WiMAXforum.org). Until now there are around 522 companies which come from Internet Service Provider, Telecommunication Engineering Company, Operating System Provider, Network Equipment maker are working together to develop and research in order to improve the current WiMAX technology to allow the technology go faster, have longer range and to make it cheap in order to make service that is cheap and affordable for consumer from all around the world to experience it. At first, WiMAX Forum organization targeted that WiMAX have maximum transmission rate of 70 Mbps at range of 70 kilometer, but recently only maximum transmission rate of 50 Mbps at shorter range can be achieved at current technology, and that is why organization such as WiMAX Forum Organization was established in order to make sure WiMAX reached its target specification on targeted time frame. Same as the organization that stress on “Wireless N” technology that targeted at 750 Mbps to be release to the consumer on year 2009 but the recent technology only allow connection which has maximum transfer speed of 300 Mbps that called as Wireless “Draft-N” and this recent technology has been release on year 2007 even though the targeted specification has not been reached. However the organization will keep develop and research in order for the technologies to reach its target specification by the time targeted by the organization. The WiMAX Forum Organization will hoping that the technology will keep develop even after the targeted specification been reach in order to make the technology successful as Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology that had become more advance with the release of ADSL 2 technology that allow more bandwidth to be sent compared to legacy technology. All newer technologies invented by the organization has to have backward compatible in order for newer devices to accept older technology for consumer that relying on older technology to be ready for more advanced technology. The current improvement of WiMAX technology is still unknown to the public since the forum section for WiMAX Forum Organization are only restricted to the Organization members only and only time will tell when the organization will give information to the consumers.
